INTRODUCTION
The Concept of Auto Mains Failure panel is to eliminate the human (I.e., to Start and Stop) attention to operate the standby power sources I.e. Generator at the time of mains failure. When the mains power failed it automatically start the generator, switch ON the load, ON the generator and when mains power is resumed the load is changed ON to mains and stop the generator.
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The AMF Module, which is the main part of Panel, it controls all the operation of panel with additional circuits. It gives start signal, stop signal, Breaker ON/OFF signals, control time delays. Monitors the healthiness of EB supply and generator supply, failure of mains supply, faults of engine like lube oil pressure, temperature etc and also engine over speed/under speed.

DETAILS OF OPERATION & SPECIFICATION
The AMF Panel is powered by 12V Battery Supply which is regulated internally for 7.5V and 5V supply with series regulated and IC regulator. It also senses the EB supply healthiness by sensing 3f supply and senses failure, under voltage, over voltage and a phase failure (single phasing) etc. If any of the above fault occurs it trips the EB supply breaker. After a delay of 45 Sec. Adjustable + it gives a start pulse which stays ON for 5 Sec + during this time generator is started. If power is resumed before 45 Sec. Generator will not be started and EB breaker closed again after starting the generator the Gen breaker is closed if EB breaker is in tripped state and load will be supplied by generator supply. If the generator fails to start at the first attempt the module senses the failure and after a delay of 30 Sec. (Adjustable) it once again gives a starting pulse which is of 5 Sec. Duration. If the second pulse also fails, it gives third pulse after a delay of 30 Sec. And if the generator fails to start even at the third attempt, it gives a start failure indication and even a buzzer can be operated to draw the attention of operating personnel.
After the starting of generator and Gen. breaker is closed. The AMF Module also checks the healthiness of generator supply like under voltage, over voltage frequency and hence speed of engine and keeps track of other faults like LLOP, HWT etc and sensing this for any of this faults even generator can be stopped.
When the EB supply is resumed, after a time delay of 10 Sec. The generator supply cutsoff and load is changed on to EB supply and after a time delay of 2 Minute the engine is stopped. A stop signal is given to stop solenoid and it is held in stop position for 30 Sec.
Four relays are used to give the start, stop, EB Mains breaker close trip, generator breaker close trip operation. This relays with their contact rating about 230V 5Amps AC or 12V 2Amps DC can be used to operate relays or contactors with higher contact rating when making the external wiring, relays and contactors of proper rating and wire of proper thickness must be used. The stop solenoid draws high current compared to start signal. The wire for this connection should be thick and as short as possible. Because, wire itself can cause drop in voltage and solenoid fails to operate.
INSTALLATION OF AMF PANEL

Connect battery supply to TB 1 & 2

Check 3 attempt stater i.e. ON time 4-5 sec OFF time 20-30 sec for 3 cycles

Check wheatear LED connected to 19 & 20 glows stating engine fail to start
.

Connect push button NO b/w terminal 16 & 15 and reset by pressing the pushbuttons & check weather 3 above sl no. 2 & 3 repeats

Connect R,Y,B & N 415V 3Ph to terminals 11-14 of mains supply & check weather EB breaker closes by changing NO contact to NC b/w terminal 23 & 24

Now connect R,Y,B & N 415V 3Ph to terminals 7-10 of GEN supply

Now switch OFF EB supply connected to TB 11-14 & check weather the GEN breaker closing signal b/w 27 & 28 by changing to NO to NC

Now switch on EB supply connected to the EB terminals.

After 10 to 20 msec EB breaker closing signal appear b/w terminals 23 & 24 by changing NO to NC after GEN breaker
trips (signal b/w 27 & 28 changing from NC to NO)

Observe weather stop signal appears b/w terminals 21 & 22 by changing NO to NC after a cooing period of 2-4min.

Now check weather the stop signal will continue for 30 to 40 sec before resuming back to original
signal (NC Signal for a period of 30-40sec which supply to stop sol.)

Check where were the contact rating is not sufficient weather supported by external relays of required ratings.

repeat the above procedure once again to confirm proper working of AMF module.
